Ørsted and shipbuilder Edison Chouest christen offshore wind service operations vesselUS House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and US Congressman Troy A. Carter, Sr. joined senior executives from Ørsted and Louisiana-based vessel builder Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) at events in Louisiana to commemorate the completion of the SOV, the Eco Edison.

Officially christened on Saturday (May 11, 2024) at the Port of New Orleans by Jennifer Scalise, the Eco Edison marks the first US-flagged offshore wind SOV. This vessel will play a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of Ørsted and Eversource’s South Fork Wind, Revolution Wind, and Sunrise Wind projects. The 262-foot long liveaboard Eco Edison will serve as a floating, year-round home base for 60 offshore wind turbine technicians. These technicians will work at sea throughout the lifespan of the wind farms, carrying out servicing and maintenance tasks on the wind turbines.
