Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure has introduced IRIS, a new sealing system for Airtight Platforms (ATP), designed to replace traditional welded steel landing rings in monopiles (MPs) and transition pieces (TPs).
The system aims to reduce costs related to primary steel, welding and engineering, while also lowering maintenance and operational requirements.
IRIS features a continuous ring with a central annulus that seals the gap between the airtight platform and the inner wall of the monopile. This design improves airtightness and long-term durability. Its simplified structure allows for easier installation, saving time and resources during offshore construction.
