RWE has initiated its worldwide "Floating Wind Co-use Competition," aimed at seeking innovative solutions that promote coexistence with other ocean users and enhance biodiversity.
RWE is extending this invitation to startups, scale-ups, research institutions, as well as individuals and organisations to submit proposals that facilitate harmonious coexistence with various sea-based activities, with a particular focus on supporting local marine stakeholders, notably the fisheries industry.
The company is also actively seeking innovations that minimise adverse environmental impacts on wildlife while simultaneously having a net-positive effect on biodiversity. These innovations should create beneficial opportunities for local marine stakeholders and, ideally, safeguard the marine ecosystem.
Winners of the competition will have the opportunity to explore the value of their innovations within RWE's floating offshore wind farms, working closely with RWE's in-house experts and collaborating with the company's global development teams, engaged in floating wind projects across Europe, Asia, and America. Additionally, winners are eligible for a monetary research grant to further develop their ideas. Interested participants can submit their proposals until December 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (CEST).
