Sumitomo Corporation Global Metals and Ireland-based TFI Marine have signed a partnership agreement to promote the use of SeaSpring, a mooring solution developed for floating offshore wind turbines.
SeaSpring is designed to reduce loads and fatigue in floating wind mooring systems. By reducing these loads, the technology is intended to extend the service life of the overall system and allow the use of smaller mooring components.
Under the agreement, Sumitomo Corporation Global Metals aims to support the development of a supply chain for mooring system components for the Japanese market. The company is involved in developing supply chains for both fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind foundations.
