Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have announced the commissioning of the 10th wind turbine for the Vineyard Wind 1 offshore wind farm, now delivering over 136 MW to the Massachusetts electric grid.
Currently, Vineyard Wind 1 has 10 turbines operational, with 47 foundations and transition pieces installed, and 21 turbines fully erected; installation of the 22nd turbine is currently underway. Upon completion, the wind farm will deliver 806 MW of power. The project connects to the New England grid in Barnstable via underground cables, which link to a substation further inland on Cape Cod. When fully developed, the project will feature a total of 62 wind turbines.
