TotalEnergies, through its shareholding in North Sea OFW One, has been awarded the N-9.4 offshore wind concession by the Federal Network Agency. The site is located in the North Sea, approximately 150 kilometres northwest of Heligoland, and spans an area of around 141 square kilometres.
It will support the development of 1 GW of offshore wind capacity. The concession has an initial duration of 25 years, with the option to extend to 35 years. The N-9.4 site is located near the N-9.1 and N-9.2 concessions, which are jointly owned by RWE and TotalEnergies. TotalEnergies plans to prioritise the development of this cluster to take advantage of synergies that can reduce construction and operational costs.
As part of the concession terms, Offshore Wind One will make a payment of €18 million to the German federal government in 2026, earmarked for marine conservation and support for environmentally responsible fishing. From the start of operations, the company will also contribute €8.1 million annually for 20 years to the transmission system operator responsible for grid connection.
