CPS Energy has expanded its Power Purchase Agreement with Avangrid, securing an additional 159.2 MW of wind energy from the Peñascal wind farm in Kenedy County, Texas. This brings the utility’s contracted capacity from Avangrid to 320 MW, nearly doubling the previous 160.8 MW.
The Peñascal wind farm has a total generation capacity of 401 MW. Under the revised agreement, 80 percent of the facility’s output will be supplied to CPS Energy customers. With this addition, CPS Energy’s total wind capacity will increase from approximately 908 MW to 1,067 MW.
