The Offshore Energy Hubs innovation project brings together researchers and companies from the energy industry to explore how future offshore energy hubs can be reliable and cost-effective. The project focuses on system design and efficient integration of Power-to-X technologies.
There are three key elements in the project: ensuring the safe operation of the electrical system, reducing the cost of offshore wind farms delivering green electricity, and integrating green hydrogen production. Partners include DTU, Ørsted, Energy Cluster Denmark, Green Hydrogen Systems, Aalborg University, PowerLabDK, Siemens Gamesa, Hellenic Cables and Supergrid Institute.
The initial focus is on energy hubs around Denmark, but the technology developed could be used elsewhere in Europe and globally. Offshore Energy Hubs is supported by the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP) with a total budget of DKK 39 million, running from September 2022 to August 2026.
