Invenergy’s 2.4GW Leading Light Wind offshore wind project has requested a second extension to finalise its contract with the state of New Jersey, citing continued difficulties securing a turbine supplier.
In a filing with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, the developer explained that the offshore wind equipment market is still experiencing significant price volatility and that it has not yet identified a solution to address this issue. The company remains committed to the Leading Light Wind project, which it is co-developing with New York-based EnergyRE. Invenergy has asked regulators for a five-month extension, pushing the project’s deadline to 20 May 2025. The extension request follows an earlier delay granted to the project.
