Petrobras has launched two tenders for geophysical and geotechnical surveys off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, supporting offshore wind farm development. The first tender covers a geophysical survey in ultra-shallow waters near São João da Barra.
It will use bathymetric, topographic and electrical tomography methods to collect subsurface data at a depth of around 10 metres, across an area of approximately 1.5 square kilometres. The survey aims to provide information critical for assessing the site’s suitability for offshore wind development.
The second tender focuses on geotechnical studies of soil conditions in shallow and beach areas. This work will complement the geophysical survey by providing data essential for the design and construction of wind turbine foundations.
