OX2 has made an investment decision for two onshore wind farms in Finland, with a combined capacity of 472 MW. The investment exceeds €700 million, and the wind farms will remain under OX2’s ownership once completed. Construction is now underway, and the projects are expected to generate approximately 1.6 terawatt-hours of renewable energy annually.
The Rajamäenkylä wind farm, located in Karijoki and Isojoki, will consist of 54 Nordex N175/6.8 MW wind turbines with a total capacity of 367 MW. It is scheduled for completion in 2028. The Honkakangas wind farm in Halsua will include 16 Nordex N175/6.5 MW turbines, providing a total capacity of approximately 105 MW, with completion planned for 2027.
Both projects will use 162-metre-high tubular steel towers with cold climate adaptations. Additionally, the Honkakangas turbines will feature the Nordex Advanced Anti-Icing System for rotor blades.
The projects are backed by a long-term power purchase agreement with a multinational corporate offtaker. OX2 has also secured long-term debt financing from Santander Corporate & Investment Banking.
