Vattenfall has decided to pause the development of the offshore wind power project Swedish Kriegers Flak due to unfavourable investment conditions in Sweden. Located about 30 km south of Trelleborg, the wind farm was expected to generate 2.7 TWh of fossil-free electricity annually.
However, given the current unviable investment conditions for offshore wind in Sweden, Vattenfall has suspended further development of the project. The wind farm was originally scheduled to begin production in 2028, but this timeline is no longer feasible. If investment conditions improve and the permits remain valid, the project may be resumed. In May 2022, the government granted a building permit for 35-50 wind turbines.
