ZF Wind Power has completed the commissioning of its new 30 MW test rig, now operational at the company’s Test and Prototype Centre in Lommel, Belgium. Installation of the facility began in 2023.
The 60-metre-long test rig is designed to validate full powertrain systems for both onshore and offshore wind turbines. It enables system-level testing of main bearings, gearboxes, and generators under realistic conditions. Testing includes functional load assessments, dynamic performance evaluation, and robustness analysis. The rig supports a maximum torque of 45 MNm, a maximum bending moment of 64 MNm, and a maximum axial force of 7,500 kN.
