UL Solutions has issued a Load Component Certificate for the Senvion MM92 wind turbine, covering its load simulation model in accordance with IEC 61400-1 Edition 3 Amendment 1. The certification is part of ACT Blade’s programme to prepare its ACT100 retrofit blade for commercial deployment.

The certificate provides an independently certified reference for the loads generated by the MM92 in its original configuration. Together with the ACT100 Design Conformity Statement previously issued by UL Solutions, it provides a basis for evaluating individual sites and assessing whether the retrofit can operate safely within the applicable MM92 design load envelope.

ACT100 is a 49.2-metre lightweight retrofit blade developed specifically for the Senvion MM92 2 MW platform. Its design combines increased aerodynamic performance with lower structural mass, with the aim of increasing energy production while controlling the loads transferred to the turbine.

The retrofit could offer owners of ageing MM92 wind farms an alternative to full turbine replacement. By replacing the blades rather than the complete turbine, existing towers, foundations and grid connections could remain in use, potentially reducing the investment and permitting requirements associated with repowering.
