Cape Holland’s Cape VLT-640 Triple has successfully undergone load testing to complete the lifting appliance certification process under Lloyd’s Register Code for Lifting Appliances in a Marine Environment (CLAME).
The Cape VLT-640 Triple underwent a test load of 3,245 tons and has been certified (Safe Working Load) for lifting piles of up to 2,400 tons. The Cape Vibro Lifting Technology will be utilised to upend and install monopiles for the Moray West offshore wind turbine and offshore substation platform foundations. Subsequently, the piles will be driven to their final penetration using an impact hammer. The monopiles have a top diameter of 7.5 meters and a bottom diameter of up to 10 meters, measuring up to 93 meters in length and weighing up to nearly 2,000 tons.
