ZF Wind Power has started using a new mobile climate chamber developed in Belgium by Sirris, the Belgian innovation centre for the technological industry, with support from the Belgian government and local industry partners. ZF Wind Power begins testing with mobile climate chamber in Belgium
The chamber, which measures 20 metres long, 9 metres high and 7 metres wide, can be shipped in kit form and assembled at manufacturers’ sites. It allows testing of large, heavy or confidential equipment at temperatures ranging from -40°C to +60°C, eliminating the need to transport machines to a fixed testing facility.
The mobile chamber was developed over 18 months by Sirris engineers, ZF Wind Power staff, and Limburg-based Vos Technics, which specialises in industrial cooling. Prototypes can be subjected to extreme climatic conditions in a controlled environment to evaluate performance under real-world operating scenarios.
A new product prototype is already undergoing testing at ZF Wind Power’s facility in Lommel.
