BASF is adjusting its renewable energy portfolio to better align its green power supply with demand. As part of this strategy, the company has decided to sell its 49% stake in the Nordlicht 1 and 2 wind farms back to Vattenfall.
Despite the sale, BASF will continue its collaboration with Vattenfall through a long-term renewable power supply agreement to support its chemical production in Europe. The transaction is part of BASF’s “Winning Ways” strategy, introduced in the third quarter of 2024, and results in a non-cash disposal loss of approximately €300 million in the company’s first-quarter 2025 earnings.
