The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is providing $224.2 million in loans to support the construction of a large-scale wind energy project by Port Hawkesbury Paper Wind and to help 13 Mi’kmaw First Nations, represented by the Wskijinu’k Mtmo’taqnuow Agency (WMA), acquire a 10% ownership stake in the project.
The Goose Harbour Lake Wind Farm will feature 24 Nordex N163-7.0MW cold climate wind turbines with a 118-metre hub height and anti-icing blade technology. The turbines will provide zero-emission, sustainable electricity with a total generation capacity of 168 MW. RES Canada Construction LP is leading the project’s construction. The wind farm is expected to create 150 full-time construction jobs and up to five permanent operational roles. Commercial operations are set to begin in 2026.
