DeWind Co. has announced that it had acquired the rights to the first 160MW of a 370MW wind project being developed by Guymon’s Novus Windpower LLC.
DeWind expects to break ground on the first phase of the project by the middle of this year, with an eye toward having it ready for commercial operation by early 2012. The California-based company, a subsidiary of Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co., will install 40 of its 2MW D9.2 wind turbines, which are being assembled by contractor TECO-Westinghouse in Round Rock, Texas. Future phases may use new DeWind turbines currently under development.
