EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg (EnBW) and Stahl-Holding-Saar (SHS) have signed a long-term 50MW power purchase agreement (PPA) for a period of 15 years. This agreement will enable SHS to sustainably transform the business activities of its companies Saarstahl and Dillinger and reduce its carbon emissions when manufacturing steel in the future.
The 960MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm is scheduled to enter operation at the end of 2025, located 90 km north of Borkum. SHS can cover an annual consumption of roughly 200 gigawatt hours with the green electricity from the offshore wind farm.
Steelwind Nordenham, a company of the Dillinger Group, is supplying the 64 monopiles for the wind farm. These monopiles, each measuring 70 meters in length with a diameter of 9.2 meters and weighing up to 1,300 metric tons, are constructed using high-performance plates from Steelwind’s parent company Dillinger, specially developed for offshore wind sector applications.
