Jan De Nul expands use of Wirescan technology on the entire cable laying fleetJan De Nul has expanded the use of Wirescan technology across its entire cable-laying fleet following a two-year collaboration with the Norwegian cable condition monitoring company.

Since 2023, Wirescan’s cloud-based monitoring platform, Wirescan Digital—powered by Line Impedance Resonance Analysis (LIRA)—has been used on three Jan De Nul cable-laying vessels. The system has supported several subsea cable installation projects, including Greenlink in the United Kingdom and Lightning in the United Arab Emirates.

The technology enables continuous, real-time monitoring of cable integrity during offshore installation. It provides a traceable and transparent condition history for both high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) subsea power cables, from load-out at the manufacturing facility to final cable placement on the seabed.
