The Floating Offshore Wind Power Technology Research Association (FLOWRA) of Japan and the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Scotland have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate on floating offshore wind technology development.
The two organisations will explore collaboration on establishing and managing an offshore test and demonstration site for floating wind.
FLOWRA is a research association that works with international partners to develop shared technologies aimed at reducing costs and risks for floating offshore wind.
EMEC, based in Orkney, is an accredited test centre for marine energy technologies. Building on its wave and tidal expertise, it has designed a floating offshore wind test and demonstration site that will allow developers to validate performance and reduce risks in challenging metocean conditions.
