James Fisher and Sons will be overseeing critical testing and termination services at South Fork Wind offshore wind farm in Long Island, US. A team of offshore wind specialists commenced client witness work at the site in August 2023.
The project involves overseeing the testing and termination of export and inter-array cables and working as client representatives to ensure the cable termination at all 12 turbines and the substation is of high quality and complies with all relevant industry standards. Resonance testing is in use at the site to detect and prevent installation errors. South Fork Wind, the State of New York’s first offshore wind farm, is located 35 miles offshore to the east of Montauk Point on eastern tip of the south shore of Long Island, it comprises 12 turbines, generating 132MW. The project is a joint venture of Ørsted and Eversource Energy.
