Kazakhstan has approved a renewable energy agreement with the United Arab Emirates to develop a 1GW wind power project in the Zhambyl region. The agreement includes the construction of two 500MW wind farms, along with a 300MW energy storage system.
The development is expected to attract around US$ 1.4 billion in foreign direct investment and create approximately 1,000 construction jobs, as well as up to 100 permanent positions. As part of the project, a total of 425 kilometres of new transmission lines will also be built.
