RWE has decided to invest in its Nordseecluster, comprising offshore wind projects with a total capacity of 1.6 GW. The wind farms will be built in the North Sea, about 50 kilometres north of the island of Juist.
Atlantique Offshore Energy will supply two offshore transformer substations, while Hellenic Cables will handle cable manufacturing. The turbine foundations will be made by Dajin Offshore and installed at sea by Van Oord. Vestas will supply the wind turbines (type V236-15.0 MW), each with a capacity of 15 MW. Havfram Wind will transport and install the turbines using its vessels “Norse Wind” and “Norse Energi”.
The Nordseecluster will be implemented in two phases: Nordseecluster A and B. Nordseecluster A, with a total capacity of 660 MW, will begin construction at sea next year. All 44 turbines are expected to be connected to the grid by early 2027. Nordseecluster B will add 900 MW of capacity, with 60 turbines scheduled to start commercial operation from early 2029.
