In a report to the government, the Swedish Energy Agency points out the area for the Skåne offshore wind farm as suitable for wind power.
The Swedish Energy Agency has taken into account views from nine authorities and writes in a combined assessment that the Skåne Offshore Wind Park area has "very good conditions for the establishment of offshore wind power in the near term based on wind, depth, distance to land, electricity needs, and conditions for electricity grid connection". The Swedish Energy Agency calls for a more solution-oriented approach and believes that there are technical solutions for wind power and defence to coexist.
Ørsted, which wants to develop the offshore wind farm, believes that the next step is a permit from the government that is conditional on the approval of the defence, which will enable the company to start a constructive dialogue with the Armed Forces.
Skåne Havsvindpark is located 22 kilometres south of Ystad and Trelleborg in Sweden's economic zone. The County Administrative Board in Skåne, which had the government's task of preparing Ørsted's application, has already recommended to the government that it grant permission for the wind farm. Subsequently, the application has also received a Natura 2000 permit, which means that only the government's decision now remains.
