Thistle Wind Partners (TWP), a consortium comprising Deme, Qair, and Aspiravi, has awarded Ramboll the contract for pre-FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) of the foundations for its Bowdun offshore wind project.
The scope of work includes designing the substructures for the Wind Turbine Generators (WTG), with a focus on a base case jacket design concept suitable for water depths up to 70m. Additionally, the project will involve various geotechnical sensitivity assessments to inform the future development of the wind farm. Ramboll will also provide offshore substation foundation concepts for both the Bowdun project and TWP’s Ayre Offshore Wind Farm. TWP initiated the development of its projects in January 2022, following the acquisition of seabed lease options from Crown Estate Scotland for the 1GW Ayre Offshore Wind Farm (located off the coast of Orkney) and the 1GW Bowdun Offshore Wind Farm (situated off the Aberdeenshire coast).
