Vattenfall has decided to submit a bid for the Alpha and Beta sites of the Dutch IJmuiden Ver offshore wind tender. These sites, each capable of generating 2 GW, have different focuses: Alpha on biodiversity criteria and Beta on system integration.
Vattenfall operates 4.1 GW in offshore wind projects, including the 1.5 GW wind farm Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) in the Netherlands. For the Alpha site, which prioritises marine and bird life protection, Vattenfall's bid draws on insights from past projects like HKZ. Additionally, Vattenfall has partnered with another company for the Beta site bid. Both bids are submitted under the name 'Zeevonk', which means 'sea sparkle' in Dutch.
