PGE Group and Ørsted have chosen Seaway7 to transport and install offshore substations for the Baltica 2 project, a phase of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm.
Seaway7 will employ heavy lift and heavy transportation vessels for this task, with operations set to commence in 2026. The design, construction, and commissioning of the four offshore substations will be handled by the Semco/PTSC consortium. All necessary components for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm have been procured and contracts for their installation have been finalised. Additionally, a general contractor for the onshore connection infrastructure has been selected, and all required building permits have been obtained. The next crucial step before construction can commence is the final investment decision (FID) by the investors. Baltica 2, along with Baltica 3, constitutes the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm. PGE and Ørsted aim to complete Baltica 2, with a capacity of 1.5 GW, by the end of 2027, followed by Baltica 3, with a capacity of 1 GW, by 2030.
