TenneT has completed directional drilling beneath the beach and part of the seabed at Maasvlakte in the Netherlands. Nine plastic protective conduits have been installed in the boreholes to provide a protected route for the electricity cables from offshore wind farms. TenneT will now connect the conduits for the IJmuiden Ver Gamma and Nederwiek 2 wind farms to conduits previously installed from land beneath the dunes.

Ørsted is proposing the Dadu II offshore wind farm off Changhua, Taiwan, with the project now undergoing environmental assessment and public consultation. The proposed project has a capacity of up to 2,002 MW and would be located approximately 38 km from the Changhua coast.

Arenko has been selected to deploy its Nimbus optimisation, asset management and trading platform at Ørsted’s 300 MW/600 MWh Iceni battery energy storage project in the UK. The project will be co-located with the 2.9 GW Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm and is scheduled to become operational in the first quarter of 2027.

Inch Cape is moving into the next phase of construction of its Scottish offshore wind farm, with the first turbine components now arriving at the port of Dundee. Forth Ports’ port of Dundee will receive components for the project’s 72 wind turbines. Each turbine will comprise a four-section tower, three 115.5-metre-long blades and a nacelle containing the electrical equipment. Inch Cape will be the first UK project to use Vestas V236-15MW turbines.
