Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Copenhagen Infrastructure IV (CI IV) fund, has announced the first power delivery from the Buffalo Plains wind farm to the Alberta grid.

The initial turbine at Buffalo Plains was installed in April 2024, and more than a third of the turbines are now in place. The remaining installation work is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2024, with full grid connection to follow. Once fully operational, Buffalo Plains will comprise 83 turbines with a total capacity of 495 MW. The project is being developed in collaboration with Siemens Gamesa and Borea Construction.
