European Energy has signed an agreement with Danish balancing responsible party Twig Energy for the operation and optimisation of its hybrid park at Måde near Esbjerg in western Denmark. The agreement covers a combined setup consisting of two electrolysers with a total capacity of 8.1 MW for green hydrogen production, two wind turbines with a combined capacity of 16 MW, and a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 5 MW / 20 MWh.
Under the agreement, Twig Energy will handle balancing responsibilities and support optimisation of electricity flows between the wind turbines, battery system and electrolysers. The system allows on-site electricity to be stored, used for hydrogen production or fed into the grid, depending on market conditions and operational requirements. The electrolyser at Måde uses renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen for industrial use and to support the integration of variable renewable energy into the Danish energy system. The site is already operational, with all three components in place, and is currently being optimised over the coming months.
