The first eight foundations for RWE’s Nordseecluster offshore wind project have arrived at the Dutch base port of Eemshaven and have been offloaded. Each foundation is approximately 85 metres long and weighs around 1,500 tonnes.
A total of 45 monopile foundations will pass through the Buss Terminal in Eemshaven this year—44 for wind turbines and one for the transformer substation. The foundations were manufactured and delivered by Dajin Heavy Industry.
The Nordseecluster will be developed in two phases. Nordseecluster A will have a capacity of 660 MW, with foundation installation beginning in summer. The structures will be transported from Eemshaven to the construction site, located around 50 kilometres north of the island of Juist. The 44 wind turbines for Nordseecluster A will be installed in 2025 and fully connected to the grid at the start of 2027. Nordseecluster B will add a further 900 MW from 60 wind turbines, with commercial operation starting in early 2029.
