Haizea Wind Group has started manufacturing monopiles for the Norfolk Vanguard West offshore wind farm in the United Kingdom. The milestone was marked by the first steel cutting at the company’s facilities at the Port of Bilbao in Spain.
Norfolk Vanguard West has a planned capacity of 1.4 GW and is being developed alongside Norfolk Vanguard East. Once fully operational, the two projects are expected to have a combined installed capacity of 2.8 GW.
The contract is the third consecutive monopile project to be manufactured at Haizea Wind Group’s Bilbao facilities since their inauguration in 2024. The first was East Anglia 3 for Scottish Power, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, followed by the ongoing supply of monopiles for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm.
