A planning application for the 13-turbine Mynydd Maen Wind Farm in south Wales has been validated by Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW). The proposed development is located around 1 kilometre west of Cwmbran and 2 kilometres east of Newbridge.
Submitted by British renewable energy company RES, the wind farm is situated within a Pre-Assessed Area for Wind Energy as identified in Future Wales: The National Plan 2040. The project is expected to contribute approximately £26.3 million to the Welsh economy, including £3.6 million directly to the local area. During its operational phase, it is forecast to support eight jobs and generate over £37 million in business rates for Caerphilly and Torfaen County Borough Councils across its 35-year lifetime.
