Boralex has acquired two onshore wind projects in the UK with a combined capacity of more than 58 MW. The projects are the Upper Ogmore wind farm in South Wales and the Tom na Clach Extension in the Scottish Highlands, both expected to become operational towards the end of the decade.
Upper Ogmore, located near Blaengarw and Nant-y-Moel, is a seven-turbine project with a capacity of around 25 MW. It was consented in 2022 and previously developed by RES before being acquired by Marubeni. The project secured a 20-year Contract for Difference in Allocation Round 7, and Boralex will now progress its development.
The company has also acquired a 75% stake in the Tom na Clach Extension, a 34 MW project located north-east of Tomatin. The development was consented in May 2024 and will comprise seven turbines, extending the existing wind farm. It was developed by Infinergy, with Colin Cawdor retaining a minority stake.
Grid connection for Upper Ogmore is planned for 2029, while the Tom na Clach Extension is targeting commercial operation around 2030, subject to final development milestones.
