RWE has signed an agreement with Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) as a partner for the Nordseecluster and Thor offshore wind projects. NBIM will acquire a 49% stake in both projects, while RWE will oversee construction and operations.
The purchase price is approximately €1.4 billion, with the transaction expected to close by early third quarter of 2025, subject to approvals.
The Nordseecluster, located about 50 km north of Juist, Germany, is being developed in two phases. Nordseecluster A, with a capacity of 660 MW, is set for full commissioning in 2027, while Nordseecluster B, with 900 MW, is scheduled for 2029.
The Thor wind farm, situated about 22 km off Jutland’s west coast in Denmark, will have a total capacity of 1,080 MW and is expected to be fully operational by 2027.
