The Finnish wind energy firm, Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy, will undergo a full demerger to enhance its offshore wind production. This demerger aims to enable cost-efficient and flexible utilisation of resources and wind energy expertise, while also fostering opportunities for advancing ownership structures and investment partnerships.

Under the demerger, Suomen Hyötytuuli's onshore wind farms and the existing Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm will be owned by the newly formed Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy. The Tahkoluoto demonstration and extension project will transition to Tahkoluoto Offshore Oy. Both entities will procure wind farm life-cycle services, including development, construction, operation and maintenance, and dismantling services, from Arenso Oy. The current staff of Suomen Hyötytuuli will be transferred to Arenso Oy.

The demerger process commences with the submission of the demerger plan to the Finnish Patent and Registration Office on March 8, 2024, with completion targeted by the end of summer 2024.

The three new companies will be owned by Suomen Hyötytuuli's present stakeholders: Alva-yhtiöt Oy, Helen Oy (Oy Mankala Ab), Lappeenrannan Energia Oy, Lahti Energia Oy, Oy Turku Energia – Åbo Energi Ab, Pori Energia Oy, Tampereen Energia Oy, and Vantaan Energia Oy.
