US wind installations rise in first quarter while turbine orders slow

Wind installations in the USA reached 2.1 GW in the first quarter of 2025, a 91% increase on the same period in 2024, according to the US Wind Energy Monitor from Wood Mackenzie and the American Clean Power Association. All of this capacity came from new onshore projects. Total installations for 2025 are forecast at 8.1 GW, including onshore, offshore and repowering. Turbine orders in the first half of 2025 fell by 50% year on year to their lowest level since 2020. This was attributed to tariffs and uncertainty over future policy.
Great Lakes launches Acadia subsea rock installation vessel at Hanwha Philly Shipyard

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock has launched the vessel Acadia at Hanwha Philly Shipyard. Acadia is a United States‑flagged, Jones Act‑compliant subsea rock installation vessel. The vessel is designed to transport and place up to 20,000 metric tonnes of rock on the seabed to provide scour protection for subsea cables, pipelines, offshore wind turbine foundations and other subsea structures.
Acteon to supply pile driving equipment for hornsea 3 offshore wind farm

Acteon, through its Marine Foundations business line Menck, has been awarded a contract by Ørsted to provide pile‑driving equipment and operational services for the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm. The project is located in the United Kingdom sector of the North Sea, about 160 kilometres off the Yorkshire coast and 120 kilometres from Norfolk.
Statkraft adjusts strategy after strong quarter but lower prices

Statkraft delivered strong operational performance in the second quarter of 2025, supported by high power generation and strong realised margins. Lower prices, particularly in northern Norway and Sweden, reduced results and led to impairments, mainly in the onshore wind portfolio. The company is focusing on a more streamlined strategy after a period of high energy prices and increased investment costs.
Inyanga to manage hybrid vessel Tor Boreas for offshore wind work

Inyanga Marine Energy has taken over the operational management of the newly built hybrid utility vessel Tor Boreas. The vessel will be managed by Inyanga in cooperation with Tor Group. It is aimed at offshore wind work and can be used for a range of tasks, including geotechnical seabed surveys, remotely operated vehicle work, subsea inspections and diving support.
Nordex reports increase in orders and earnings in second quarter 2025

Nordex recorded an order intake of 2,310 MW in the Projects segment in the second quarter of 2025, an increase of 81.7 percent compared to 1,271 MW in the same period last year.
OX2 adds permitted wind project in Sweden to portfolio

Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm now fully operational in Scotland

Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, visited Eyemouth on 24 July to mark the completion of the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm as it enters full operation. Located 15.5 kilometres off the coast of Fife, the project consists of 54 turbines with a total capacity of up to 450MW.
