Ørsted has exercised its buyback right for the Gunfleet Sands 1 & 2 offshore wind farm in the UK, where it currently holds a 50.1% stake. Gunfleet Sands 1 & 2 has been operational since 2010 and generates enough electricity to supply more than 125,000 UK homes annually.
Scottish ports need coordinated grid investment to support offshore wind growth

Scottish ports could become major centres of electricity demand, supporting offshore wind manufacturing, assembly and shore power, according to a report commissioned by Scottish Renewables . The report warns that grid constraints, consenting delays and electricity costs could limit investment. The report, Port Power: Electricity Demand in Scotland, was prepared by grid connections consultancy Roadnight Taylor. It examines the changing electricity requirements of Scottish ports as they support offshore wind development, industrial electrification and efforts to reduce emissions from shipping.
Buchan offshore wind project receives floating foundation design certification

Buchan Offshore Wind has received basic design certification from DNV for its selected floating foundation, a concrete Damping Pool structure designed by BW Ideol. The certification provides independent validation of the foundation design selected for the project.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs received two applications for its third-phase offshore wind zonal development auction (Round 3.3) before the deadline on 30 September 2026. The selected projects are expected to be completed and connected to the grid between 2030 and 2031.
Iberdrola reports growth in electricity distribution and generation

Iberdrola distributed 206,947 GWh of electricity worldwide in the first nine months of 2026, an increase of 5.8% compared with the same period last year. The United Kingdom recorded the strongest regional growth, at 22.8%, driven by higher demand and the integration of Electricity North West, the electricity distribution business serving Manchester and surrounding areas.
Nordex reports higher order intake in third quarter of 2026

Nordex recorded order intake of 2,810 MW in its Projects segment, excluding Service, in the third quarter of 2026, an increase of 29.5% compared with the same period last year (Q3 2025: 2,170 MW). In the first nine months of 2026, order intake totalled 7,733 MW, up 16.1% from 6,661 MW in the same period of 2025.
Ocean Breeze Energy takes over operation of alpha ventus

Ocean Breeze Energy (OBE) has completed the takeover of the company operating Germany’s first offshore wind farm, alpha ventus, and is integrating the project into its existing operations. The change of ownership also means that OBE’s management will lead Deutsche Offshore-Testfeld und Infrastruktur (DOTI), the company associated with the wind farm.
Germany revises offshore wind site development plan for the North Sea

Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) has published the second amendment to the 2025 Site Development Plan (FEP) for offshore wind. The changes include revised capacity densities, new site configurations and changes to the timing of selected sites in the German North Sea. In area N-10, the planned capacity densities have been reduced and a previously planned 2 GW site has been divided into two smaller sites. The total area has also been expanded from 195 km² to 259 km².
