Engie has signed a 15-year renewable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Apple. Under the agreement, Engie will develop two wind farms with a combined capacity of 74 MW, one repowering project of 11 MW, and two agrivoltaic plants totalling 88 MW. All projects are authorised, located in southern Italy, and are scheduled to become operational between 2026 and 2027.
The facilities will have a total installed capacity of 173 MW, with 80% of the energy produced supplied to Apple and the remaining 20% injected into the national grid.
In Italy, the project forms part of Engie’s renewable energy and storage development strategy, which aims to reach 1.6 GW of installed capacity by 2030. Engie currently operates or is constructing a portfolio totalling 773 MW in the country, including 18 photovoltaic plants (250 MW), 20 wind farms (474 MW) and four battery storage facilities (49 MW).
