Vattenfall has begun installation of 21 wind turbines at its Bruzaholm wind farm in the Eksjö municipality, southern Sweden. The turbine components—including 83-metre blades, nacelles, drivelines, and tower sections—are arriving at the port of Oskarshamn and being transported by specialised vehicles through Småland’s forested roads.
Transport of the 63 blades is particularly complex, with each convoy stretching over 100 metres. To reduce disruption, the deliveries are taking place at night. Installation of the lower tower sections is already complete on several turbines, and work has begun on the upper tower segments and major components using large cranes.
Once installation and testing are complete, the wind farm will supply 460 GWh of electricity annually—enough to power around 91,500 homes in Sweden's SE3 electricity zone. Half of the output will be supplied to Volvo under a ten-year agreement. Commissioning is expected by December 2025.
A battery storage facility with a 38 MWh capacity is also under construction next to the wind farm. It will help stabilise the electricity grid and reduce price volatility.
