Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) advised Aer Soléir and 547 Energy, along with their Greek subsidiaries, on the acquisition, financing, development, and construction of three utility-scale wind farms in Greece. These projects have secured power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Amazon.
The projects include the 293 MW Vermio cluster of wind farms located in the Western and Central Macedonia regions of northern Greece, and the Mesokorfi and Koukouras wind farms in the Peloponnese. The combined investment for these developments is expected to reach €1 billion, co-financed by the National Bank of Greece (NBG) and the European Recovery and Resilience Fund (RRF), totalling €496 million.
Aer Soléir, an Irish company, specialises in developing large-scale onshore wind, solar photovoltaic (PV), and battery storage projects across select European markets.
WFW’s role involved comprehensive due diligence for the Sponsors and NBG, covering permitting, regulatory compliance, land rights, and corporate matters. The firm also provided regulatory guidance and assisted with drafting and negotiating land rights agreements, construction and supply contracts, and various corporate support documents. Additionally, WFW offered Greek-law counsel and English law expertise on interest rate pre-hedging and finance-linked interest rate hedging transactions.
