Germany reaches 10.8 GW of offshore wind capacity

At the end of June 2026, 1,764 offshore wind turbines with a combined capacity of 10.8 GW were in operation in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea. During the first half of 2026, 84 new turbines with a total capacity of 1,077 MW were connected to the grid. A further 22 turbines totalling 323 MW have been installed at the Borkum Riffgrund 3 and He Dreiht offshore wind farms and the Nordseecluster A project but have not yet entered operation. Final investment decisions (FIDs) have been taken for offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 2.6 GW. Another 17.5 GW of projects have been awarded contracts, but no FID has yet been completed.
FairWind appoints regional director for APAC

Tull has more than 25 years of experience in social and economic infrastructure, including senior roles at infrastructure consultancy AECOM. Max Bögl completes concrete tower for high hybrid wind turbine

Max Bögl Wind has completed the concrete tower for its wind turbine at Winnberg near Sengenthal in Bavaria, Germany. The turbine is designed with a hub height of 199 metres and an overall height of 285 metres. The concrete section of the tower stands almost 108 metres high. The remaining construction work includes installation of the upper steel tower sections, the nacelle and the rotor.
Clarksons to support OranjeWind offshore wind farm construction

Windcat and Ørsted sign vessel contracts for UK offshore wind operations

Windcat and Ørsted have signed long-term contracts for crew transfer vessel (CTV) services supporting Ørsted’s offshore wind farm operations from Grimsby, UK. Ørsted’s Generation UK Hub operates and maintains six offshore wind farms from Grimsby’s Royal Docks, supplying renewable electricity to homes and businesses.
Marco Polo Marine signs CSOV agreement with Siemens Gamesa for Asia-Pacific offshore wind projects

Marco Polo Marine’s offshore wind division, PKR Offshore Co., Ltd. (PKRO), has signed a framework agreement with Siemens Gamesa for the deployment and charter of two commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs). Under the agreement, PKRO will provide two new CSOVs to support Siemens Gamesa’s offshore wind projects in Taiwan on a non-exclusive basis.

Vestas has installed the final wind turbine at TagEnergy's Golden Plains Wind Farm in Victoria, Australia, marking the completion of turbine installation at the country's largest wind farm. Located about 100 kilometres west of Melbourne, between the rural towns of Rokewood, Skipton and Smythesdale, the project comprises 215 Vestas V162-6.2 MW wind turbines.

Coalition of attorneys general seek to restore DoD review process for onshore wind projects

A coalition of 19 attorneys general has moved to intervene in a lawsuit against the US Department of Defense (DoD) and Secretary Pete Hegseth over the agency's suspension of reviews for land-based wind energy projects. The coalition argues that federal law requires the DoD to review proposed wind projects for potential national security impacts and work with developers to resolve any concerns. However, since August 2025, the DoD has halted routine reviews, effectively preventing the development of onshore wind projects across the USA.
European Commission unveils Electrification Action Plan and ETS revision
