DWT awarded Riffgat offshore wind service contract

DWT (Deutsche Windtechnik) has been awarded a contract to provide maintenance and other services at the Riffgat offshore wind farm. From 1 January 2027, the company will provide technical services for all 30 Siemens SWT-3.6-120 wind turbines on behalf of operator EWE for an initial two-year period.

The European Commission has positively assessed the Netherlands' fourth payment request under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). Key measures included in the payment request include investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency, including measures enabling offshore wind generation and more than 820,000 energy-saving upgrades to homes across the Netherlands.
X1 Wind closes fourth funding round

X1 Wind, a floating wind technology developer, has closed its fourth strategic funding round. The round was led by Grow VP, which will acquire around 8% of the company's share capital, while Avançsa will acquire a similar stake. The round also included the conversion of instruments previously provided by existing shareholders, including Technip Energies, EIC Fund and CDTI Innvierte.
German Offshore Wind Energy Association elects new board

The German Offshore Wind Energy Association (BWO) has elected Benedikt Scheel as its new chairman. Korbinian Ott of Steelwind Nordenham and Till Schwarzlose of RWE Offshore have been elected as deputy chairmen, while Lena Büsing of Merkur Offshore has been appointed treasurer. The board members will serve a two-year term.
Maine selects 800 MW wind project and transmission proposal

The Maine Public Utilities Commission (Commission) has announced the results of its request for proposals (RFP), issued as part of the Northern Maine Renewable Energy Development Program. Following its review of the proposals, the Commission selected an 800 MW generation project for contract negotiations and identified its preferred transmission project.
Max Bögl and Vestas complete wind project with 199-metre hub height

Max Bögl Wind and Vestas have completed a wind project at Winnberg near Sengenthal, Germany, featuring a Vestas V172-7.2 MW turbine with a hub height of 199 metres installed on a Max Bögl hybrid tower. Commissioning is expected in the coming weeks.
Vestas announces two Italian orders totalling 105 MW

Vestas has announced two wind turbine orders in Italy, totalling 105 MW. SIMIC Group has ordered 10 V163-4.5 MW turbines, with a combined capacity of 45 MW, for the Castellani project. The order includes a 20-year service agreement. Delivery and commissioning are planned for the second half of 2027.
Heerema opens engineering hub in Porto

Heerema Marine Contractors is establishing an engineering hub in Porto, Portugal, through its newly formed Heerema Portugal Lda. The Porto hub will become part of Heerema’s global engineering network, working with its headquarters in Leiden, the Netherlands, and offices in London, Houston, Singapore and Villahermosa. It will also support the company’s fleet of heavy-lift crane vessels involved in offshore projects.
T12 Engineering secures funding for floating wind technology

The project builds on a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study supported by Scottish Enterprise in 2025, which assessed the technical viability of the company’s Floating Mooring System (FMS).
Energy islands to support Denmark’s renewable power system

Offshore wind is expected to play a central role in Denmark’s clean energy system. The country plans to establish an artificial island in the North Sea with an initial capacity of 3 GW, alongside another island-based hub at Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. These hubs are intended to collect electricity from offshore wind turbines, transmit power to shore and neighbouring countries, and convert surplus electricity into green fuels through Power-to-X technologies. According to GlobalData, Denmark’s energy islands could have a regional role by supporting cross-border electricity flows and the integration of offshore wind generation.
