WindEurope has announced the AI4Blades Challenge, an initiative designed to encourage innovation in renewable energy through artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. The challenge offers participants the opportunity to work with the KI-VISIR dataset, provided free of charge, to develop new ideas and research questions.
Poland is accelerating its offshore wind ambitions, with its first commercial-scale offshore wind development, “Baltic Power,” now underway. Two offshore substations, built by Grupa Przemysłowa Baltic (GPB) in Gdańsk and Gdynia, were recently completed and will be installed at the Baltic Power project, which is set to begin operations in 2026. The project will have a capacity of 500 MW, covering approximately 3% of Poland’s electricity demand.
Three companies have been selected to receive funding from the West of Orkney Windfarm through EMEC’s Offshore Wind R&I Programme. The £1 million programme aims to find innovative solutions that could help make offshore wind projects more efficient and cost-effective. The programme received 29 applications, with a focus on two main areas: understanding metocean conditions at the West of Orkney Windfarm site and improving designs for operations in short weather windows.
The Inflation Reduction Act is addressed in and exuctive order, Unleashing American Energy, signed by President Trump, which calls for an immediate halt to the disbursement of funds allocated under both the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
