Iberdrola has completed the planning approval process for the Windanker offshore wind farm and has received approval from the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH). The project is now progressing towards the start of construction in the German Baltic Sea.
The manufacturing of the 21 foundation structures, including monopiles and transition pieces, is being carried out by the Spanish company Windar. This summer, the foundations will be installed at sea, and the installation of the internal park cabling will also begin. Windanker will feature 21 SG 14-236 DD offshore wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa, each with a capacity of approximately 15 MW, bringing the total installed capacity to 315 MW.
Since December 2024, the Japanese energy company Kansai has held a 49% stake in Windanker, while Iberdrola retains a 51% majority share.
