PGE Baltica, a subsidiary of the PGE Group, has chosen Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions (Ireland) as the geotechnical and structural designer for the ground survey phase of the Baltica 1 Project (EWB1) in the offshore wind farm area and along the export cable route.
The scope of work includes overseeing ground survey activities for the project using geophysical and geotechnical methods, developing a ground model, and creating conceptual designs for foundations for subsequent design stages.
The Baltica 1 OWF project, with an approximate capacity of 0.9 GW, is one of three projects currently being developed by the PGE Group in the Baltic Sea. It is located approximately 80 km from the coastline, near the town of Łeba in the Pomeranian voivodeship. The project has already obtained a location permit and a connection agreement, and has completed the first full year of wind, sea current, and wave surveys. This year, PGE Baltica has commenced ground surveys for the onshore part of the project and contracted preliminary geotechnical surveys of the seabed, as well as geological surveys for the HDD landfall. The Baltica 1 OWF is expected to be operational after 2030.
