RWE is progressing with the construction of its Thor Offshore Wind Farm, with onshore cable works scheduled from mid-April to late October.
The works include horizontal directional drilling under dunes and fields to protect the environment. Landfall works are underway to prepare for cable pull-in next year. The onshore cables will be laid and buried in three phases, with connection to the substation planned from June to October. Subsea cables, to be installed in 2025, will connect the offshore substation to the onshore cables. The wind farm, with a capacity of 1000MW, is located approximately 22 kilometres off Thorsminde in the Danish North Sea and is expected to be operational by the end of 2027.
