A group of companies has achieved a major component exchange (MCE) on an offshore floating wind turbine while it remained on site at the Scottish Kincardine Offshore wind farm, located south-east of Aberdeen. The new process was delivered through a collaboration of technologies and expertise from LiftOff, Vestas, Dragados, Kincardine Offshore Windfarm Limited (KOWL), and Cobra Wind International Limited (CWIL).

Principle Power has unveiled two new semisubmersible floating wind foundation designs: the WindFloat TC (tubular, centre column) and WindFloat FC (flat-panel, centre column). These new designs are natural evolutions of the existing WindFloat technologies, featuring support for a wind turbine located on a column in the centre of the platform.

Albatross Technology, Electric Power Development (J-POWER), Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (TEPCO HD), Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (Kawasaki Kisen), and Sumitomo Heavy Industries Marine & Engineering (SHI-ME) have been chosen to participate in the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization's (NEDO) "Next Generation Technology Development for Floating Offshore Wind Power Generation Project." Their proposal, focusing on the feasibility of large-scale floating vertical axis wind turbines, was selected for implementation.
